Serious Dental Sealant Toxicity Alert!

A serious, newly discovered, toxicity disorder Neurocutaneous Syndrome (NCS) has been traced to dental sealants. All sealants have some level of toxicity but Dycal, Life, and Sealaplex have all been well documented for toxicity. The toxicity is cytotoxic, genotoxic, neurotoxic, phototoxic, and also causes necrotic and inflammatory symptoms. This means it can cause changes to your DNA, damage your cells, nervous system, immune system, and brain, as well as making your skin very sensitive to light . Symptoms of NCS include neurological sensations, pain, memory loss, depleted energy, as well as itchy, cutaneous lesions which often lead to various serious opportunistic skin infections. Ethyltoluene sulfonamide, common to all three of these sealants, is considered the primary cause of NCS. Toluene is a well known nerve toxin and any one with sulfa sensitivity could be adversely affected.

You may want to do further research on any dental sealant that your dentist recommends for yourself and especially your children.

Splenda

We invite you to login to www.truthaboutsplenda.com, a website sponsored by the sugar industry. We certainly do not endorse the liberal use of refined sugar, but information on the website about the toxicity concerns and other problems with Splenda should be an eye opener. Splenda can be especially harmful to children.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TOXIC CHEMICALS EXPOSED ON PBS!

Scientists are now recognizing chemical exposure as a leading cause of such conditions as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Alzheimer’s to name but a few. As the numbers of people affected with these and other diseases increases each of us needs to be aware of the sources of exposure in our daily lives.
PLEASE READ the Bill Moyer’s Report on www.pbs.org/tradesecrets.
Share it with family and friends. It is of the utmost importance!
Well-Being Associates has protocols to help reduce the toxic burden in your body and to improve defenses against future exposures.

FYI...KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TAKING!

ALARMINGLY results from major studies are indicating with increasing frequency that the Human Body is smarter than Allopathic or Traditional Medicine … AS WE HAVE BEEN PRACTICING IT. An example is the herb Valerian and the drug Valium. The active component of Valium was originally extracted from Valerian and then later synthetically manufactured in the laboratory, eliminating the natural cofactors found in the whole plant. Many of the cofactors found in nature have not even been identified, let alone evaluated, so these compounds cannot be duplicated in the laboratory. Therefore we recommend that anyone taking a prescription OR over-the-counter medication THOROUGHLY research its history, usage and side effects. As an example, on the National News, September 20, 2002, another warning regarding Tylenol was broadcast. It stated that over usage of Tylenol alone, or as an ingredient in other products, could cause liver damage and/or failure.

It is important to understand that chemicals used during the manufacturing process do not have to be listed on the label, if they are a part of a previously manufactured component of the final product. Example: The chemicals used to bleach flour or sugar OR pesticides used to fumigate the wheat that is milled into flour. So be warned: Just because the label doesn't list a specific ingredient does not necessarily mean that it is not part of the finished product. If you have doubts contact the manufacturer.

The Worst Pills Best Pills Newsletter states that a person would be well advised not to take ANY drug that has not been on the market for at least 5 years as it takes that long for adequate data to be collected on adverse side effects.

CHEMICAL CONTAMINATION IN CHILDREN'S PLAY CLAY

According to research conducted by the Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG) bake-able polymer clay sold under brand names like Sculpey, Fimo, and Cernit contain high levels of phthalates, a hazardous chemical.

Phthalates are a type of compound added to a variety of products in order to increase fluidity and flexibility. Cosmetics and soap use them to enhance pour
ability and application ease, and many plastics use them to maintain softness and bend ability. Consumers might remember that phthalates were in the news last year when researchers announced that a wide variety of children's toys, especially those made from soft vinyl plastics, were found to contain large quantities of phthalates. (See the Non-Toxic Times, July 2001.) More recently, phthalates have been identified in a wide variety of cosmetic products, a problem outline by Coming Clean and the Environmental Working Group in full-page ad in the New York Times last July. (Visit the web site At Not Too Pretty for more information.)

Exposure to phthalates is a cause of great concern because these chemicals have been linked to a long list of health problems including reduced fertility, reproductive disorders, nerve damage, thyroid problems, birth defects, miscarriage, liver damage, and cancer.

Children have a greater vulnerability to environmental toxins and according to the VPIRG research the tested clays contained up to 14 % phthalate by weight. These chemicals enter children's bodies via hand to mouth contacts and by the inhalation of fumes produced when the clays are baked to create permanent sculptures. For example, a child playing for five minutes with just 3 1/2 ounces of tested clays would be exposed to levels of phthalates that exceed the maximum daily exposure standards set for drinking water in Florida and Minnesota. Unfortunately, washing hands isn't much help. Adult researchers found phthalate residues on their skin in measurable amounts even after scrubbing their hands

Adding to the alarm bells sounded by the VPIRG report is the fact that all the clays tested received non-toxic certification from the Arts and Creative Materials Institute and are advertised as environmentally friendly. The VPIRG also found that there are many other chemicals in the polymer clays there are not considered during the approval process by ACMI.

RECIPE FOR HEALTHY PLAY CLAY:

1 cup of flour
1/4 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Food coloring if desired

Combine all ingredients in a pot over medium heat and stir. Add food coloring until the desired color intensity is reached. For a 100 % natural products natural dyes like beets, berry juices, etc can be used instead. Continue stirring until the clay forms a ball and reaches the consistency of commercial play doughs. Place on foil or wax paper until cool. Store in plastic bag or tightly sealed container.
